Cultural and Contextual Considerations for the Use of an Artificial Intelligence Chatbot for Smoking Cessation with American Indian and Alaska Native Communities (NIMHD)
This pilot examines American Indian and Alaska Native community perceptions of the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) components in NAITIVE—a culturally adapted AI chatbot designed to support smoking cessation for American Indian and Alaska Native people. By iteratively evaluating culturally adapted digital smoking cessation tools, this project aims to advance primary prevention, strengthens lung cancer screening pathways, and promotes equity through transparent governance and Indigenous data stewardship.
